Pablo A Perez

Pablo is a professional cinematographer, producer, FAA-certified drone pilot, and instructor of cinematography and documentary production at the University of Colorado Denver. He has over 15 years of experience in the film industry, with a strong track record in international feature films, television series, documentaries, and commercial productions.

Pablo has worked as a line producer and unit production manager on medium- to large-scale projects in both Cuba and the U.S. He is highly skilled in managing complex, multi-location shoots and leading cross-cultural crews.​ Throughout his career, he has collaborated with renowned directors from Cuba and beyond, including Alejandro Perez, Alfredo Ureta, Manuel Herrera, and Ernesto Daranas.

As one of the founders of Ajar Film Productions, Pablo has served as a cinematographer on numerous documentaries covering the arts, healthcare, the prison system, and other social issues. Several of these films have premiered on Rocky Mountain PBS and screened at top film festivals.
​
His recent documentary, Built with HeART (2025), is a finalist at the Wild West Film Festival in California. Nothing Safer (2024) has received multiple awards, including Best Documentary Short at the Blue Whiskey Independent Film Festival (BWiFF) and Best Heritage Short at the Pueblo Film Festival, among others. Fábrica de Arte Américas (2023) won Best Documentary at the prestigious San Antonio Film Festival. His film noir The Implausible (2021) received a Silver Remi Award at the WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival, was nominated for Best First-Time Filmmaker at Cannes Shorts, and was a finalist for Best Cinematography at the New York Istanbul Short Film Festival.

Through the power of his lens, Pablo has collaborated with nonprofit organizations in the Denver Metro Area, as well as the Office of Economic Development and International Trade of the State of Colorado and the City of Denver.

As an educator, he has mentored film students on professional film sets across multiple documentary projects and international trips.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Financial Management and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Technological University of Havana.
